Truck Park
Sector: Transportation and Logistics
Challenge: US truck parking systems were poorly managed and operated independently across different lots. Additionally, with stricter regulations on driving hours, it became essential for truck drivers to book parking spots with confidence in their availability and management. The co-founders aimed to unify these systems for greater efficiency in an app.
My role: UX research, UX design, and brand design.
Brand workshop facilitation
Brand design workshops are crucial for businesses of any size because they help everyone get clear on the brand’s:
Core values
Messaging
Identity
Mission
Vision
Personality
Market positioning
It was imperative to have everyone fully aligned on this, as these concepts would later inform future designs and marketing for the company. Additionally, it helped give this new company a stronger sense of purpose and direction.
We decided to take 2 hours to run the brand workshop. As it was only the two co-founders, we decided to make the workshop more fun and lively by including everyone from our design agency as well (our CEO, COO, 3 designers, 3 engineers).
UX Research
For this project, I gathered requirements through in-depth discussions with the co-founders, focusing on their vision and the core issues they wanted to address. I complemented this with independent research on the sector, exploring U.S. trucking regulations and identifying common pain points for truck drivers, such as parking shortages and compliance with strict driving hours.
Given the goal was to rapidly develop an initial prototype for fundraising, I chose not to invest additional time in more involved UX methods, like conducting user surveys or performing usability tests with actual truck drivers.
With the information in hand, I proceeded to map out an overview of the user requirements and user flows that I was planning to create as a usable wireframe prototype.
UX Design
When creating the wireframes, I focused on crafting clear, functional designs that captured the essence of the product. Using Adobe XD, I transformed these wireframes into interactive prototypes that allowed the clients to experience the product's functionality and flow firsthand.
This process helped the clients visualize the design, understand the user experience, and provide valuable feedback before moving into full development. They also used this prototype to gather direct user feedback and to present in investor meetings.
